Greetings to all of you who are supporting this great effort.
I had been urging the Wounded Warrior Project, a large national support organization based out of Jacksonville FL, to contact Tag-A- Long, as Tag had agreed to launch a second trip of Warriors this year. As of yesterday, the Wounded Warrior Project has signed on with Tag-A-Long to take 16 Wounded Warriors on a second inaugural trip. This trip will launch 1 week after our trip of now 28 Wounded Warriors and caregivers. Note that Bob Jones, President of Tag, and
I had originally intended to take either 8 or 16 Warriors, but there is great interest on the part of the Warriors and the specialists that are treating these Warriors. So we are now up to a grand total of 44. We have had to turn some Warriors away due to the size of the armada. But the funding support by all of you has been great, and the increased costs of the increased participation is covered by your contributions.
And yesterday I was informed that we now have our first wheel chair Warrior on board, a double amputee with PTSD and a service dog (the dog is coming along, knows over 170 voice commands). I was hoping that we would see perhaps 4 wheel chairs sign on, because I felt that these Warriors would benefit greatly from swimming, kayaking, camping among buddies, and rafting the white water. Maybe next year the word will be out that wheel chairs are fine on Cataract……..
We have had boonie hats donated into this effort and some purchased, and now embroidered, for the Warriors and boatmen.
Thanks again for all of your support. We’re doing a good thing together.
